DHS alumni defeat varsity men’s basketball team 67-54
The gym was packed with familiar faces on Nov. 26 as the varsity men’s basketball team took on the alumni in a friendly exhibition game.
The alumni showed up the current Blue Devils with a 67-54 win.
DHS graduate Austin Hershberger came out to play because of his love for the game, as well as his love for the program.
“Playing with my old teammates is a blast from the past,” Hershberger said. “It’s really good to reconnect.”
Randy Barber, also DHS alumni, decided to play because he would do anything to make the program better.
According to Barber, he enjoyed playing in the game because it “brings back a lot of memories.”
DHS graduate JaeDoo Son liked playing without the pressures of game day that occur before a big game. “It’s all for fun,” Son said.
According to Son, the win was excellent for the team of alumni.
“It’s good to know that we have a little game left in us,” Son said.
Senior Ilanko Nataraajan, co-captain of the varsity men’s team, said it was a lot of fun seeing his old teammates come back, despite the loss.
Nataraajan believes that the team lost because “our energy really wasn’t there.” According to him, the team needs to pick up the energy in order to do better when the season starts.
The Blue Devils will jump-start their season on Nov. 28 for a Foundation game at Vacaville High School. Tip-off starts at 7 p.m..
