DHS graduates Alex Harris and Brent Pella need extras to appear in Harris’s thesis project, a film about a star player for the fictional city of Davisville’s high school baseball team. Extras will be needed for a scene filmed at the Davis High baseball field.
Any interested parties are expected to arrive at the field in royal-blue and white clothing on Saturday, Oct. 6 and Sunday, Oct. 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to film. Free refreshments will be provided.
Harris, a senior at Loyala Marymount University, wrote and will direct the film for his senior thesis project, while Pella, who recently graduated UC Santa Barbara, will act as the producer.
The film, which takes place in fictional Davisville, is about a star high school baseball player who is about to enter college.
“He feels a lot of community pressure to succeed in baseball, as well as dealing with the sport turning into a business instead of a fun game played with friends,” Pella said, “Eventually he is forced to make a decision on whether he will stick with baseball and risk hating something he loved, or leaving it as something he enjoyed.”
Harris and Pella had the option of filming entirely in Los Angeles, but instead chose to shoot the film in Davis because they wanted to involve their hometown and community.
“We brought it back to Davis because we wanted to make it a big community event. We wanted to bring everyone together,” Pella said.
