Dynasty came into the much-anticipated Davis High dodgeball playoffs with abundant confidence and swagger due to their statue as the number one team in the school. Earning a first round bye in the playoffs only boosted Dynasty’s egos and it showed against the Multiple Scoregasms on Tuesday March 26.
Dynasty was playing without emotional vocalist senior Jake Millie and hardball throwing senior Joe Murray, both due to varsity baseball commitments. Playing two men down didn’t hinder the Dynasty as they quickly won the first game over the Multiple Scoregasms who were missing their best player, senior Adam Inouye, also due to baseball.
The second game wasn’t much different as Dynasty senior Adam King quickly eliminated senior Gus Realyvasquez and Rudy Bulhman. His kills were quickly followed by trash talking comments such as “Gus where did you get that shirt? The Baby GAP?” But King’s trash talking quickly turned to high pitch whines as senior Sam Yoder soon eliminated him. Nevertheless, after Bulhman and Realyvasquez were eliminated, team Dynasty hunted down and eliminated their final four opponents.
Entering the third game, fans could feel tension in the air. With a two nothing lead by team Dynasty, one more win would clinch the game and ensure that they would duck, dive, dip, and dodge another day. Team Multiple Scoregasms were hoping for a monumental three game comeback that would go down in the hall of legends as one of the greatest comebacks in school dodgeball history.
Unfortunately for team Multiple Scoregasms, it was not their day. They quickly lost the third game, meaning a crushing end to a once promising season.
Senior Paul Eberhart contributed Multiple Scoregasms loss to their lack of skills and the overall talent level on team Dynasty.
“We were missing our best player Adam but that’s no excuse. We just can’t catch the ball and that’s how they beat us,” Eberhart said.
On the other side of the court team Dynasty celebrated their win with loud cheers and explosive celebrations. They knew that they were one step closer to hosting the trophy and forever being immortalized in DHS dodgeball history.
Dynasty’s tallest and most lanky member, senior Will McPherson, believes his team can’t be stopped and are a clinch for the title.
“We dominated this game from start to finish. We got to be the number one seed in the whole playoff and I’m guessing we are probably the favorites in Vegas to win it all,” McPherson said.
