The Future Farmers of America is going to be participating in spirit week this upcoming week. Teacher Ellie Michel is helping the students to decorate the classroom, door and float for homecoming.
“You can wear anything you want and you don’t look stupid,” Michel said.
This year, she intends the float to be a trailer covered with hay bales, FFA flags, and the FFA colors, yellow and blue.
Junior Emily Albertson is one of Michel’s students who participated in spirit week and the floating building last year.
“I’m really excited to decorate the float because I’ll get to be with all my friends,” Albertson said.
Participating in the float preparation and presentation results in a point earned for class, two of which are needed for the year. Anyone in FFA can go through the parade on the float.
“This year I’m looking forward to ‘Murica Monday and Freakishly Blue Friday,” Albertson said. “In FFA, it’s a competition to see who can dress up the craziest.”
Michel is determined to participate in every day of spirit week.
