With posters all around campus, advertisements on social media and a contest for the most creative proposal, the Homecoming dance is gaining traction.
“Last year, we didn’t really have a Homecoming dance,” said ASB Communications Commissioner and junior Darby Maguire.
“We had [a dance called] MORP a few weeks after Homecoming. It was not very successful, I think like 50 people came. Students have asked us why we don’t do a normal Homecoming dance and told us they wanted one,” she said.
The dance will be on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 7 to 10 p.m. in the North Gym. Entrance to the dance, where the student band Audiowave will perform, closes at 8 p.m.
Tickets are being sold in the finance office at lunch from Oct. 5 to Oct. 9 for $15 with an ASB card and $20 without. The official dress code is semi-formal; students should dress similar to how they would dress for junior prom and winter ball.
“After watching the rally, I’m so excited for both the Homecoming game and dance this year,” sophomore Anna Erichsen said.
