With Davis High’s Homecoming week in full throttle, a few festivities remain. One, of course, is the parade, a yearly tradition inspiring creativity from sophomores, juniors and seniors.
The parade starts at Central Park at 1:30 p.m., marching its way through downtown before finishing back at the DHS campus. This means that students will be released from school early, with seventh period ending at 12:48 p.m.
In past years shop owners, family members and visitors to downtown Davis have cheered on the procession.
This year’s theme is music genres, which will be reflected in each classes float: country for the sophomores, rock and roll for the juniors and hip hop for the seniors.
The parade features floats built by each class, as well as music and marching by the DHS pep band.
“I feel like we’ve run into every possible problem, but the team [of float-builders] has gotten through it, and I’ve really enjoyed it,” said Victoria Nishikawa, a member of Student Government and enthusiastic contributor to the sophomore float.
“I am so pumped,” said Jake Purves, a sophomore and first-year member of Student Government. “This year’s parade is going to be the best one yet!”
