The Davis High women’s varsity tennis match was cancelled on Sept. 21 when transportation became unavailable for the opposing team.
Forty-five minutes prior to the start of the match, Sheldon High realized that they did not have a bus to transport the team to DHS.
By the time SHS tennis staff realized this complication, DHS tennis players were already out of class and about to begin their warm-up.
Players were disappointed by the last minute cancellation. “I wanted to play today […] it would have been good to get extra practice in,” senior Carly Schnack said.
Although the team was upset there was, “not much we could have done about it,” Schnack said.
The home game was scheduled to be the fifth game of the season.
Despite the cancellation, the DHS tennis team made the best out of the situation by deciding to have a light practice.
The varsity team was able to compete against Saint Francis High on Sept. 23. The DHS varsity team came out on top, winning 5-4 against SFH.
The team had been looking “forward to that game because it will definitely be a challenge,” sophomore Katie Linn said.
