Davis High held its Homecoming parade on Oct. 15 in downtown Davis. Many DHS students and community members watched from street sidewalks.

It was not just the students on the floats that were having the fun. “From what I saw, it looked like most people were excited about the parade,” said cheerleader Angelina Cripe, who participated in the cheer team float.

Students say that the parade brought community residents together. “I liked seeing everyone come together and have fun, not just the students,” said junior Katerina Ferries, who was on the girl’s golf team float.

However, the parade left some drivers stuck in traffic as streets closed downtown. Some drivers were displeased at having to wait for the floats to pass.

“It was a little nerve racking because it was my first ever parade and I wasn’t sure how it was going to go, but having friends around made it easier,” Cripe said.

Participants have a few suggestions for future parades as well. “I think it would be cool to have more than just candy to throw out to people, like DHS stickers or gift cards or rubber bands,” Cripe said.
