The DHS Film Appreciation Club is new to campus this year and was created by two DHS seniors — Dylan Raven and Rocco Del Toro.
They wanted to make an impact on DHS.
“We really just wanted to start the club because this is our last year at DHS and we just didn’t really feel like we had done anything within the DHS community so we decided to start a club and we thought a film club would be appropriate,” Del Toro said.
Raven and Del Toro are co-presidents of the club and aim to accomplish a number of things in their club meetings.
“We kind of just want to watch films, appreciate them and kind of go in-depth to analyze them. […] we go into detail about effects, actors, how good the acting is and the cinematography,” Raven said.
The club also studies and analyzes directors and their works. Film Appreciation Club is currently looking at director Wes Anderson and his works.
“With some of the club members or whoever wants to we are going to all watch Bottle Rocket by Wes Anderson together,” Raven said.
“We meet […] to talk about different movies and why we like them and different directors we like,” Del Toro added.
The club meets every Thursday in Mr. Blackwell’s classroom (N-08) 10 minutes after the start of lunch and welcomes everyone.
“It’s a club for everyone,” Raven said.
They are looking forward to many more meetings this year.
“We want to watch as many movies as we can and talk about as many directors as we can,” Del Toro said.
