With AP tests coming up, many Davis High students have started studying for their upcoming exams. The exams start the morning of May 2 and end on May 13.
Junior Ella Heringer is taking the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam this year. She studies with her teacher during class using extra material the teacher provided.
“She is helping the class study by providing practice tests and assignments to help prepare us. We also watch college board videos on tips and notes for the test,” Heringer said.
Some teachers also hold after school study sessions to help students. Junior Mick Dunning is taking both the AP Environmental Science exam as well as the AP 2D Art exam.
“Mr. Bastin has after school study sessions where he gives us quizzes and flashcards and other things to study with. It actually is so helpful and it helps me understand the material better,” Dunning said.
Aside from getting help from resources provided by the school, some students opt for outside study materials. Junior Olivia Kim uses other methods to study.
“My friend told me to buy this book written by a teacher who scores the Spanish 6 exam that has tips and strategies and stuff for the exam. It also has summaries of everything that is required to know for the exam, which is nice because I do not have to read the long chapters and it’s a lot easier to review,” Kim said.
Although studying for AP exams can be tedious and boring at times, junior Claire Miller opts for a more fun alternative.
“I like studying with my friends because they make it not nearly so awful,” Miller said.
