Homecoming is almost here, which means spirit week is just around the corner. This brings new opportunities to show your school spirit.
Junior Nicola Davis is a member of student government, part of which is in charge of choosing and planning Davis High’s spirit days. This years homecoming spirit week consists of Muscle Monday, Team Tuesday, We Ball Wednesday, Theta Thursday and Blue Friday.
For Muscle Monday, “you should wear clothes you would want to work out in,” Davis said. This could include athletic shorts, tank tops, T-shirts, or tennis shoes. Team Tuesday provides an opportunity to “wear (clothes) that reflect a team you’re a fan of,” Davis said.
For We Ball Wednesday, each grade is assigned two colors to wear based on the sports ball they are assigned. Sophomores are red and white to represent a baseball, juniors dress in black and white for a soccer ball, and seniors wear black and orange for a basketball.
On Theta Thursday, “a simple way to participate is by wearing college merch,” Davis said. Junior Monica Garibay also plans on dressing up. “I have a lot of college sweatshirts I can wear,” Garibay said.
The classic Blue Friday wraps up the week. A benefit of participating in spirit week is that, “it gives you something to look forward to every day,” Davis said.
