The Davis High varsity football team lost to Consumnes Oaks 25-21 on Sept. 23, during the homecoming game. With packed stands chanting cheers all night longs, the energy was certainly there for the home team Blue Devils.
Defense dominated the first quarter which led to neither team scoring, but following a 22-yard rushing touchdown by Davis’ Prince Flores the Devils took the lead 7-0 in the second quarter.
Both Consumnes Oaks and Davis scored again before the half, leading to a score of 14-6, but the Wolfpack scored twice in the third quarter to take the lead 18-14.
At the start of the fourth quarter the Devils took the lead back 21-18 and seemed to have momentum. However, the Wolfpack scored again to take the lead 25-21 and got an interception on Davis’ following drive to clinch the victory.
“We played very well, wish we could have pulled off the win but we played well,” sophmore cornerback Ray Keeper said.
