The Davis High varsity volleyball team defeated the Franklin Wildcats in straight sets on Oct. 11.
The Devil’s won all three close sets by a score of, 25-16, 25-22 and 25-22.
Senior Lena Sundin had a stand out performance, leading the team with 14 kills (an unreturnable shot) and 19 receptions (the return of an opposing shot).
“The competition wasn’t our hardest but wasn’t our easiest, so it was more like a match,” Sundin said. “We were able to have fun, exciting sets, all three sets.”
Sundin’s most memorable moment was when junior middle Tessa Schouten set up felow middle senior Michelle Kang, which is a rare play according to Sundin.
“I think the team played really well,” Sundin said.“(We) can improve on some communication and having energy the entire time, even when we’re down like a few points.”
The Devils will attempt to carry this momentum at home against Cosumnes Oaks on Oct. 13.
