On Tuesday, Sept. 24, Davis High’s women’s varsity golf team faced St. Francis at the Wildhorse Golf Course. Davis fell short with a score of 223, losing to Folsom’s 217. The winner was determined by adding up the five lowest scores on each team to get the match’s final score.
The teams were out in the sun for about two and a half hours. Davis fought through the glaring heat of about 100 degrees Fahrenheit, but the team still put their all into the game.
“I was doing good until the last two holes, where I was really falling apart because I was really getting exhausted from heat,” junior Chloe Jang said.
Jang was optimistic going into the game. “I was expecting a friendly game which we did have today,” Jang said.
St. Francis and Davis have a historical rivalry. “We are pretty neck and neck with this team so I knew it was gonna be a good challenge,” junior Mehr Jaijee said.
Though Davis lost this game, the team has high hopes of winning the next game against St. Francis, which will take place on their course. “I think it will go well, it will be at their golf course so they will have the advantage but I think we will still be able to get some good scores,” Jaijee said.
