Women’s flag football loses 40-0 against Oak Ridge

The Davis High Women’s Flag Football team lost in a 40-0 game against Oak Ridge Thursday Oct. 17.
Family and friends of the team gathered to watch the game in 63 degree weather.
“It’s windy and cold so that might affect how we play,” sophomore Margot Lubell said before the game. “We feel very connected as a team though.”
The game began with a touchdown from Oak Ridge within the first 5 minutes, leaving the score at 6 – 0.
Oak Ridge then scored another touchdown, but failed to score the extra point due to a catch from Davis High.
A penalty on a play by Oak Ridge resulted in a first down for the Blue Devils, which quarterback senior Olivia Koehler and offensive player Lubell took full advantage of, gaining yardage as the defensive players cheered enthusiastically from the sidelines.
Oak Ridge scored another touchdown shortly after, leaving the score to be 19 – 0 just as halftime started.
During halftime, the team gathered around coach Geoff Holbert as he told them to “fight till the end.”
As the second half of the game started,Oak Ridge scored another touchdown and successfully gained the extra point, making the score 0-26.
“In this game, we were working on connecting with each other and supporting each other,” sophomore Emmalena Kerr said. “I think we did well at that.”
During the third down, Oak Ridge scored two consecutive touchdowns, leaving the score 40-0.
