This year Black Student Union integrated Asian American, African American, Muslim, and White cultures into a melting pot of different events for the BSU assembly on Tuesday, Feb. 23.

Principal Winfred Roberson began the assembly by singing the Black National Anthem.

Later, a timeline of events that have been milestones for the African American society was presented along with various mini-biographies of influential African Americans such as Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and President Barack Obama.

During the BSU assembly a monologue of the upcoming play, “God’s Country” was preformed, and two members of the Asian Student Association made speeches about Asian equality.

ASA President and senior JaeDoo Son made a point to talk about how there has been no particularly “positive” event that influenced the Asian culture. He believes that by working together as a unity, “we can walk forward.”

Feet were tapping and students danced as, Soul Intention, took the stage performing “I feel good” by James Brown, which was sung by senior Dorothy Mittow.
