In the song “Baby” featuring Ludacris is in a word repetitive. In two words it is repetitive and sophomoric. Listening to a pubescent pop star repeat the word baby ad infinitum is enough to drive any music lover insane. By pandering to obsessive preteen girls, Bieber has created a song that is ridiculous and grating. Songs of love and loss are fine when the singer has been around long enough to experience the emotions they sing about. However it is clear that Bieber doesn’t know the first thing about love. Apparently he is so desperate for his mysterious first love that he is not above bribing the poor girl with “any ring” she wants. Bieber marks a new low for popular music. It takes a unique kind of awful to make me wish for the obnoxious crooning of John Mayer.
