How do you know Review
“How Do You Know”, a romantic comedy starring Reese Witherspoon, Owen Wilson, and Paul Rudd, asks the essential questions: how do you know when you’re in love?
The movie follows the life of Lisa (Witherspoon) as she faces the hardships of being cut from the national women’s softball team and struggling with deciding between two completely different men in her love life.
First, Lisa encounters Matty: a sexually-driven baseball star, with the intentions of using Lisa as just a one night stand until he becomes intrigued by the complexity of her personality.
However, a relationship that begins based on sex usually stays that way.
Then, Lisa happens upon George (Rudd): a business man who is the target of a federal investigation because his father (who also happens to be his boss) is framing him in order to avoid facing a life-sentence for his own wrong doings.
Witherspoon’s character is very confused and conflicted throughout the entire movie, and has zero chemistry with either man. Both of the preceding facts make the viewer pity her rather than egg on her success.
However both of the main male characters, although somewhat confused and conflicted themselves, are absolutely hilarious.
Like an epic episode of Saturday Night Live, I found myself laughing out loud at almost every single joke. The comedic lines are witty, well-written, and timely.
Although the movie is predictable and about thirty minutes too long, it is still amusing and enjoyable overall.
