Dance team tryouts to be held this week

After being postponed for four days, dance team tryouts are taking place the week of April 18.

Workshops for prospective dance team members will be held from April 18 through April 20 and official tryouts will be held April 21.

Workshops were held last week, and official tryouts were supposed to be held on April 12, but they were canceled because the dance team had no official coach.

However, former DHS teacher Alisha Eller stepped up and agreed to coach the team. Superintendent Winfred Roberson and dance team member Sydne Furie arranged for tryouts to be held the following week.

Sophomore Abbi Furlow, who attended workshops last week, was frustrated by the delays.

“I went to all of the days of workshop and a few times during lunch just to make sure I knew what I was doing and doing it correctly. After finding out that all my work and stress for this week was for nothing, I was pretty bummed,” Furlow said.
