SPOILER ALERT: Sofia’s Take on “Breaking Dawn Part 2”
By Sofía Cárdenas, HUB Staff Writer–Many people like to shun “Twilight” as the chick flick of the year, and the truth is, they are right. However, I am here to tell you that the makers of “Twilight” have gone all out in their final project “Breaking Dawn Part 2.”
All of your favorite (or least favorite) characters are back and as cheesy as ever. To quote every other line in the movie: “Edward/Bella/Renesmee/Jacob….I Love You.”
Bella is reborn as a vampire, and the Cullen family takes her in with warm, frozen marble arms. Jacob imprints on the new born child of Bella and Edward. I enjoyed the use of saturated color to show warmth and love between family as well as the grey tones used during the scary parts.
Remaining loyal to the book, the little girl ages at a unprecedented rate, being an infant for only a few moments before leaping on to the terrible twos. She drinks blood, but also food. It is more than safe to say, I felt the love. What I didn’t feel was the presence in imminent doom.
The end is bound to blow your head off, similar to what happened to Carlisle and Jasper. Yes, they die. If you are anything like me, you probably just said “No way!” Way.
As the Voltaire ripped the head off clan leader Carlisle Cullen, everyone in the theater exclaimed “WAIT! THAT WAS NOT IN THE BOOK. WHAT IS GOING ON? I DON’T THINK I LIKE THIS.”
Then, as if the director wanted this shock to dig even deeper into our jugular, BAM! Down goes Jasper. Bella tells Jacob to run away with the small half human half vampire child.
Even though you will probably never catch me saying that I’m a “Twilight” fan, this movie was definitely worth the money. There is something in this movie for everyone; some jokes (for people who hate “Twilight”), some Bella v. Edward “action” (for those who love “Twilight”) and some epic plot twists and cinematography (for those of us who have been dragged to go see it by either party previously mentioned). I would recommend this movie for any Twilight fan or cynical mate.
