“To Be Loved” leaves listeners wanting more

In a society that is immersed in the culture of Lady Gaga pop, and Macklemore thrift shopping, it’s unusual to come across an album that maintains the traditional feeling of what pop once was: a soft but firm voice with a full band behind it. Michael Bublé creates an album that takes you back to a much simpler time, and combines many different instruments to create his newest album, To Be Loved.

Keeping with his usual style, this album has the same consistency as some of his other hits, such as Haven’t met you yet and his hit in early 2007, Everything.

As a fan of anything that can make me sing along, I found myself dancing along to this album as it hopped from song to song, and made me feel, well, bubbly. The album left me wanting more of his storytelling lyrics.

The highlights of the album were Close Your Eyes, and Come Dance With Me. Both songs made me fall in love with the words and his voice a little bit more, while Come Dance With Me had a salsa theme that seemed fitting of a 1920s club with organized salsa dancing.

As always, Bublé’s album combines just enough pop to maintain a spot in the current music scene for him but uses enough traditional aspects that make the listener feel as if they are truly living in the past. This much-awaited album has proved to be another step forward for Bublé’s career, promising another hit.
