Vandalism update

The front office door was repaired within days after Aug 28, but the repairs came with a price.
Fixing the door was quite an expense. The Davis Joint Unified School District had to pay for new glass and labor.
According to Vice Principal Stacy Desideri, many students who had to get their schedules changed or talk to their counselors had a difficult time with the broken door.
“[Vandalism] takes us away from the most important job, educate students,” Desideri said.
Although there is no evidence as to what might have shattered the glass, the Davis Police Department filed a report on the vandalism and there are security cameras around Davis High.
Vandalizing school property or private property is a level five offense in secondary schools in Davis. The consequences result in a conference with a parent/guardian, one to five days suspension or possible expulsion, and prohibited from attending all co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, practices, and contests beginning first day of suspension for a minimum of one week.
“Vandalism costs everyone, not just the school,” Desideri said.
