Kreidler’s teammates Andrew Bolich and Ben Crook follow behind to provide the second line of defense. The crowd storms the court after a 75-68 win over the Franklin Wildcats. The win puts the Blue Devils in second place in the Delta Valley Conference. Brett Bloomfield searches for a teammate to help him get the ball down the court as Matt Michaels, as well as anxious fans looked on. Michaels made 17 points for the Blue Devils, making him the team’s top-scorer that night. A record breaking crowd of 1,272 fans, all dressed in white silently show their support for the Blue Devils during a free throw with their “spirit fingers.” The fans were silent until the tenth Blue Devil point was scored by senior Ted Riffle with a layup. Senior Ben Crook makes a break towards the basket to score two out of the seven total points he contributed throughout the game. Wild fans shout, take pictures, and twirl their towels to show their excitement during the game. Strong leaps up to stop Franklin High from scoring on a layup. Strong was the second-highest scorer Friday night with 14 points, following senior Matt Michaels who scored 17 points. The Davis High Cheerleaders Megan Barlow and Lauren Hupe help Lexi Vitangcol perform a flip at the cheerleaders’ routine during the halftime show. With Matthew Raabe on saxophone, the Davis High Pep Band helps the crowd rock out to tunes like “Crazy Train” by Ozzy Osbourne and “YMCA” by The Village People before the game and during halftime. Senior Garek Najita had a trumpet solo during the performance as well. Crazy Davis High fans came to the game donned not only all-white clothes, but also tee-shirts with a player’s face printed on it, basketball uniforms, and home-made tee-shirts with players’ last names scrawled on them. Senior and fan Brendan MacDonald also carried around a huge cutout of Strong’s face. Seniors Cliff Tsai and Ted Riffle, and junior Drew Gnos watch the action from the sideline/bench as cheerleaders rally the crowd at the far baseline. The Blue Devils managed to keep a double digit lead against Franklin for most of the game. Senior Brett Bloomfield dribbles down the court as he looks for the next place to pass the basketball. Bloomfield was the third highest-scoring member of the Blue Devils squad, with eight points to his name. Davis High Varsity Basketball players Ben Prussell, Brett Bloomfield, Matt Michaels, Brandon Strong, and Ted Riffle crouch by the sideline as they wait to be checked in to the game.
