The Davis High men’s varsity soccer defeated Pleasant Grove 3-1 in its home game on Sept. 30.
A cross by D.J. Villegas popped up and Raunak Manandhar headed the ball swiftly into the goal in the first half. “We came out strong in the first half and the second half was alright, it was chill.” Manandhar said.
Within five minutes of Manandhar’s goal, Matteo Sorrentino dribbled through the Pleasant Grove defense, cut past the keeper and passed the ball into the net. “After we missed a couple chances we came back and put away two when we needed to.” Sorrentino said.
Another assist by Villegas lead to an amazing strike by Jesse Hopp and a three point lead over Pleasant Grove.
A long ball from the Pleasant Grove keeper put Joe Restani of Pleasant Grove in a one on one with the Blue Devil keeper, who he quickly slotted it past and into the goal.
In the first half, DHS maintained possession for the majority of the game and controlled
the midfield. “I thought we came out strong and maintained it and ended up getting the result we
needed.” Sorrentino said.
