The Lady Devils Rugby Club was awarded with a victory at their last home game against the Del Campo Lady Cougars of Sacramento with a score of 49-10 on Mar. 21.

The season is over in just a few weeks and the victory was an evident sign of the improvement over the season. The girls learned how to play more aggressively, according to assistant coach Matt Ginsberg.

“We did a really great job with our goals, which were taking the ball straight, supporting each other and making the passes when they’re open,” Ginsberg said.

Junior Katurah Johansson was an important player in today’s game as she scored two tries. She is proud of her hard work and dedication and plans on continuing with rugby next year.

“I think we had a good chance for winning at this game and I feel excited and really accomplished for making the tries,” Johansson said.

Although the Lady Devils are proud of their win, Ginsberg believes they still have a couple of things to work on for their upcoming game and tournaments.

“I want to see more open passing. A lot of the girls made long runs and scored but now we want to see it passed between about four or five people,” Ginsberg said.

This game was a success because Davis High saw a lot of improvement in the players and expect a great rest of the season.

“I want to work on tackling lower, but overall I’m proud of our win,” Johansson said.
