The first Whole Earth Festival was held in 1969 on the UC Davis campus when an art class showcased their art in a way to teach others about the environment. This original “Art Happening” was later called “Whole Earth” after the United Nations declaration of “Earth Day” in 1970. Today, it features more than 100 vendors showcasing artistic and musical talents.
