Six individuals were awarded Homecoming’s “most spirited,” a position recognizing two from each class with the most school spirit. Each newly-minted honoree was voted to the position by their peers, and given a title reflecting the class music theme. Their names are as follows:

From the class of 2018, sophomores Victoria Nishikawa and Leah Pinto were named country stars.

From the class of 2017, juniors Alexis Vitangcol and Tyler Walker were the two rock stars.

And from the class of 2016, seniors Eric Smith and Owen Yancher became the pop stars.

The honorees were recognized during the Homecoming festivities on Oct. 9. During the parade, they stood on separate pedestals on their respective class floats. Later in the day, they were recognized and paraded around during the half-time show.

“I was very surprised,” Smith said in reaction to his crown. However, he is honored to have been chosen by his classmates, as he is a “huge fan of supporting” school sports and other spirited activities.

“I felt amazing honestly, it was so much fun. I couldn’t stop laughing and smiling,” Vitangcol said after the half-time show. “When I heard the news, I was so excited. I couldn’t believe it, I felt honored and was so happy to be voted for.”

“I felt a bit overdressed but no longer felt out of place,” Nishikawa said. “I was scared my crown would fall off.”

“A bunch of my friends said that they would vote for me, but I doubted I would actually win,” Nishikawa said. However when she heard the news, “[she] was shocked. I couldn’t believe they would vote for me.”
