Don’t rush to the snack bar too quickly at halftime this Friday, or you might miss some major excitement. The halftime show is set to be a fun one, featuring four different parts.
First off, the cheerleading team will perform, wowing the audience with their acrobatic moves.
Cheerleaders are a major part of the Davis High homecoming tradition and this year, the cheerleaders have to learn the routines for homecoming in a very short amount of time.
For the first time in a halftime performance, the cheerleaders will be using their poms. “Expect a new, unique stunt,” junior Evelynn Dominguez said.
They learned the routine on Wednesday, Sept. 28, just two days before the homecoming game, and will add the finishing touches to their performance after the parade.
“The stress is on,” junior Jacqueline Jones said.
Coach Tamara Reed made new routines for the homecoming game so that the cheerleaders will not be using any old routines this year. The cheer team has decided to make an adjustment to its usual performances, like using poms during its performance.
“Expect to see all new routines,” Jones said.
Last year for the homecoming game, the cheerleaders used a mashup of songs, including “All About That Bass” by Meghan Trainor, “Bang Bang” by Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande and Jessie J and “Anaconda” by Nicki Minaj.
Following the cheer performance will be the dance team.
Next up is a game of bubble-ball soccer–the exciting twist on the normal sport where each player is encased waist-up in a large inflatable rubber ball. Facing off will be six seniors against three juniors and three sophomores.
Junior Aedan Enriquez, the student government leader in charge of the halftime performance, is excited to watch the action unfold.
“It’s going to be hilarious to see everyone running into each other,” Enriquez said. “It’ll also be interesting to see who wins most knockdowns.”
The game is sure to feature plenty of violent collisions and entertained audiences.
Lastly, the homecoming royalty–including two from each class–will be paraded around the stadium on golf carts.
Even for those not crazy about football, Friday’s homecoming atmosphere will provide an exciting experience, full of Blue Devil Pride.
