Although the Davis High women’s volleyball team fought hard to keep up with the Pleasant Grove Eagles for three games, the Blue Devils eventually lost their home game with a score of 3-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
Within the first five seconds of the game, Pleasant Grove scored. Soon enough, though, junior Claire Bachand, with a point of her own, was able to tie the score.
Senior Sam Moore helped keep the first set, which ended 25-21, close with her saves and assists.
However, DHS barely pulled through the second set, losing 24-9 despite Bachand and senior Mitra Varjavand’s efforts to keep the score up. The Blue Devils also lost the third set 25-18, which resulted in Pleasant Grove’s 3-0 win.
“We fought hard in all three matches, but couldn’t play consistently enough to pull out the win,” senior Kyla Sandhu said.
“I just really wanted them to just bring [confidence] to tonight’s match, knowing that this is going to be a good team and they haven’t lost, and I just really wanted my girls to come out and play confidently,” coach Julie Crawford said.
After this loss, the DHS varsity women’s volleyball team is currently in fourth place in the Delta League with three wins and three loses. The team’s next game is on Monday, Oct. 3 against Grant High School.
