When looking for a good pizza place, there are 19 solid options. But for something different, try Davis’s newest and 20th pizza place, Extreme Pizza. This new pizza place goes by the motto: “Extreme. Not Mainstream.”
Extreme Pizza, on Mace Boulevard, officially opened on March 9. The pizza place specializes in out of the box pizzas such as the Yard Sale, which is an eclectic mix of Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, black olives, fresh mushrooms, green peppers, red onions, vine ripe tomatoes, tomato sauce, mozzarella and cheddar.
This pizza is sweet and spicy, a perfect mix of deliciousness. The sauce on the pizza has a sweet side to it, which complements the slightly spicy Italian sausage and pepperoni perfectly.
Another delicious pizza is the Wham, Bam. Thank You Mammoth. It is comprised of Italian sausage, roasted red peppers, caramelized onions, parmesan, tomato sauce and mozzarella. It is truly delicious with that same sweet pizza sauce and tasty caramelized onions. This is the perfect pizza for someone who wants a unique mixture of cheeses and toppings.
The one thing that Extreme Pizza left to be desired was their customer service, which will get better over time and their pacing to get the food served. The salads, despite being good, took about 15 minutes to come to the table, which is far too long for salad.
One final pizza which was truly delicious is the Everest, which is a great combination of Italian sausage, pepperoni, salami, beef meatball, tomato sauce, mozzarella and cheddar. This pizza is a fabulous mix of four types of meat and two types of cheese.
In total, Extreme Pizza lives up to its’ motto but has some work to do on its customer service and timing for serving the food.
