Interim principal Tom McHale was approved as the permanent principal at Davis High at the school board meeting on May 3.
The committee in charge of electing a new principal had originally chosen Lee Fleming, who had three years of teaching experience at a small school of 300 students in San Diego. However, the school board received a lot of backlash from DHS teachers that preferred McHale.
McHale has been teaching for 20 years; he was previously the vice principal under principal Will Brown and has been serving as the interim principal for the 2017- 2018 school year after Brown left in the summer.
