Davis High JV women’s soccer team lost to Pleasant Grove 2-0 on Jan. 30. Davis had possession of the ball for the majority of the game but was unable to score any goals despite its determination.
“I was definitely disappointed in the outcome considering that we held the ball on their end of the field for a lot longer than they had it on ours,” sophomore Gabi Skilling said.

Throughout the first half, freshman Rebecca Blum attempted to make several goals but was unsuccessful. A quarter of the game in, Pleasant Grove took a shot from the corner and received their first point.
During the last few minutes of the first half, freshman Makena Fix and sophomore Amanda Berry tried to earn Davis’ first point but were stopped by Pleasant Grove’s fierce goalie.
Towards the end of halftime, team captain Jillian Geist led an inspirational pep talk and cheer as Davis prepared for the second half.

After a controversial foul was called on Berry, Pleasant Grove scored their second and final goal. Despite several opportunities to score in the second half, Davis came up short.
“Although we didn’t win, I think we played much better and controlled the ball a lot more than in our previous game [against Pleasant Grove],” Berry said.
