It was a disappointing 61-55 loss for the Blue Devils versus the Jesuit Marauders at the annual Golden One stadium game Feb. 7. The event is a fundraiser for the boys’ and girls’ basketball programs at Davis High, Jesuit and St. Francis.
Despite the heartbreaking defeat, sophomore Keaton Massey reflects that “being able to play in the Sacramento Kings stadium was an amazing experience and a night to remember.”

The game tipped off a little behind schedule at 7:48 pm. Davis’ first basket was three minutes and thirty seconds into the first half, when junior Joey Voss hit a three pointer.
The Devils came up short in the last few minutes, putting up a strong fight after being behind the whole game. After two two-point-plays by senior Aidan Doms and one by Voss, Davis managed to cut its loss from a seven point deficit to 58-55 with only one minute to go.
Jesuit managed to go on a few runs in that final minute and Davis was unable to make up for it. The Devils did not score again after Voss’ basket.
“I like how my guys competed […] and we made it exciting towards the end,” head coach Dan Gonzales said.

The game was well attended by Davis High, Jesuit and St. Francis fans alike. Both pep bands attended the game, and the Davis High dance team and cheer team performed during the halftime show.
