The Davis High JV men’s basketball team fell short to Jesuit 50-62 on Feb. 9.
Davis finished the first quarter with a close lead of 11-9, with back to back scores from freshman Bryce Barker.
Both teams’ offenses fired back and forth in the second quarter, thanks to points from both sophomores Nathan Lee and Rockwell Lybbert.
By the half, Davis was down 23-24, trailing by a meager one point.
However, while Davis fought hard on both sides of the court, Jesuit extended the lead to 42-52 by scoring six unanswered points by the end of the third.
“We had a lot of trouble in the third quarter,” Lee said. “We missed a lot of our first shots and we just didn’t make any of our threes.”
Even with efforts from Barker scoring an aggressive layup in the final four minutes of the last quarter, Davis suffered a striking loss with a final score of 50-64.
While Davis did end its season with a loss, the Devils fought with a strong offense and defense until the end.
“Overall, for the whole season, I think we all played good and we really had that last game of the season mentality,” Lee said.
