In a tough loss to Franklin on Feb. 28, the JV men’s basketball team fell 4-6 in league play. Franklin was hot on a two-game win streak and Davis had little momentum coming off of two consecutive losses. The Blue Devils played hard and trailed Franklin for most of the game, but were never able to pull ahead.
At the end of the first quarter, Davis was trailing by eight points. Franklin’s strong offense kept the pressure on Davis, but Davis was still able to keep even.
DHS was plagued by several missed free throws throughout the game. “I think we missed 11 free throws, and I think we lost by 11 so that was tough,” junior Rockwell Lybbert said.
The constant game of catch-up by Davis continued as they tried to chase Franklin’s lead.
In the third quarter, Davis was able to dig deep and the defense improved. However, the Devils’ offense, led by sophomore Devan Minouei and juniors Brett Wiebe and Lybbert, was unable to keep up.
Going into the final quarter down by 12, Davis was unable to form any momentum and lost with a final score of 60-71. Coming off this tough loss, Davis hopes to work on some things before their next game against Pleasant Grove.
“The layups, that’s where we usually do a lot better […] that was a really off night for us,” coach Michael Mueck Jr. said.
