On Feb.25 Davis High students lined up with their luggage packed to go through the bag check for the annual zoology & botany trip to Catalina Island.

After multiple rest stops through the night, the busses stopped for breakfast at 5 a.m. in Long Beach at the local Denny’s.

The busses reached their destination at the Long Beach ferry boat dock.

Students sat and waited for the boarding of the ferry boat that would take them to Catalina Island.

A flag sailed behind the ferry, as the students made their way to the island.

Students carried their bags off of the ferry to the center quad before their orientation.

During free time students went to the pier to look at the view and take pictures.

During a day activity seniors Eliot Liederman and Steven Guilfoil worked on the plankton lab. They are looking through a microscope to see the plankton caught that morning.

An after lunch activity was the touch tank, where the students learned the phylums of the various animals in the tank.

Seniors Jenna Christensen and Nellie Cox watched the sunrise on hike that many other students attended.

After the morning hike, every dorm room needed to be cleaned out for the next visitors, seniors Clara Stockburger and Riley Johnston carried the trash out.

The students cleaned their kayaking gear off after they carried the kayaks to the shore.

The students packed up their bags and placed them in the quad before they boarded the ferry to leave the island and take the busses from Long Beach back to Davis.
