Davis High women’s field hockey played the Pleasant Valley Vikings on Oct. 12, winning the game 4-0. It was the team’s first home game in 28 days.
It was also the team’s annual Stick It To Cancer game: a fundraiser for a local Yolo County breast cancer awareness group.
By halftime, Davis had run the score up to 3-0.
Pleasant Valley made an offensive push late in the game, but Davis was able to keep their shutout and score an additional goal.
Emerging as one of the teams top scorers for the season, senior Julie Thomas scored two out of the four goals. “Yeah that happens a lot […] she’s really good,” teammate Mary Bingle said.
Freshman Aurora Hogan contributed an assist, receiving praise from her teammates. “She’s so crazy good,” Bingle said.
After a hard won game on Friday Oct. 8 against Chico High School, head varsity coach Beth Hogan was pleased with how the team performed against the Vikings.
“We played on Friday night at Chico and we were down some players and we played well, given our situation, but we didn’t play as good as we could have,” Coach Hogan said.
