Women’s soccer tryouts will take place on Nov. 15-17.
Most athletes trying out play for the Davis Legacy soccer club which plays year round. “It’s pretty much all year round and then we take a break from club for high school,” senior Rebecca Blum said.
They have practice three days a week as well as one game on the weekends, so for many athletes who plan on trying out this year, that is their main preparation. “[It] keeps me in shape and lets me get plenty of soccer practice before tryouts,” junior Una Keller said.
For many players, playing for the Davis High is something they look forward to. “I’m super excited for the season to start because it’s a different environment from club soccer and allows me to relieve some stress.” Keller said. “It’s just a lot of fun to play with my classmates and represent our school.”
Consisting of mainly passing sequences, defending and shooting drills, the tryouts will last for three days. They end tryouts each day with a 30 minute scrimmage. “Tryouts are usually intense but still lowkey and fun” junior Olivia Johnson said.
Blum expects tryouts to be challenging, but also enjoyable since she knows the coaches and the other athletes trying out. “Coach Sara does a great job of making tryouts fun but also keeping the energy competitive,” Johnson said.
