After gearing up to face-off rival team St. Francis, the women’s soccer team was canceled just hours before the start time on Feb.1.
Not only did this mean one less game before the postseason starts, it also meant that seniors could not celebrate their senior night.
The cancellation of the game was the result of a miscommunication between the DHS team and the St. Francis team.
“Miscommunication between the two teams about a sportsmanship meeting that was supposed to be taking place a few hours before the game,” DHS senior Chloe Barr said.
Barr is sad that the game was canceled.
“The last sentimental feeling of your last home game … is something that I was really looking forward to,” she said.
Senior Harper Burnham was looking forward to having a good team to play against in addition to the senior night traditions.
“I was most excited just to play the game and to have a good and even match,” she said.
However, the season as a whole has been a positive experience for Burnham.
“Although we didn’t get the ending we felt like we should’ve, this entire season has been so much fun and rewarding,” she said.
Sophomore and player Sabrina Hazel is looking forward to her future beyond the end of this season.
“I’m most looking forward to (Davis Legacy Soccer Club) starting up again and getting to see all my club teammates again,” she said.
