The Davis Joint Unified School District (DJUSD) is one of the last schools in the region to keep a mask mandate — and most students are complying with it.
“DSHS students and staff are doing a great job wearing their masks,” Davis High principal Tom McHale said.
In surrounding school districts, such as Rocklin Unified School District, there have been student and teacher walkouts in protest of mask mandates, however, there has not been any instance of that here at DHS.
Two students reportedly came to class without masks on March 11, but, according to McHale, “they are now wearing masks.”
Though some students have expressed concerns, they have complied with the mandate.
“DSHS Administrators are working with a very small number of students who have concerns about wearing a mask, and I am happy to report that all students are wearing masks,” McHale said.
