The Davis High annual Club Fair commenced at the quad during lunch on Sept. 14.
Within minutes, waves of students crowded the club stands. The high concentration of people was in part due to the advertisement strategies and various clubs being promoted.
“I have Smarties so I can bribe people…,” said Rena Abdusalam, the vice president of the Mock Trial Club.
Many stands were prepared for the crowds, including Best Buddies Club which promotes inclusion for students with disabilities.
“We have a poster, we’ve got candy and best buddies merch… and we have sign-up forms and a QR code,” senior Marley Michael said.
Many clubs strive for a more inclusive community through fun activities while others help educate through academic endeavors.
Science Olympiad is an academic competition club that covers science subjects that can’t be learned in regular science classes like anatomy and epidemiology. They put the forefront of their accomplishments on their stand.
“We have some sweet sweet trophies here because we are a very accomplished club,” said Science Olympiad’s outreach coordinator, Jianna Ongsioco.
Academic clubs have seen a lot of success through the Club Fair.
The DHS Academic Decathlon is a competitive scholastic team that competes in ten different subjects: art, economics, literature, math, music, science, social science, essay, speech and interview, with this year’s theme being the American Revolution.
“There’s a lot of people and there’s definitely a lot of interest, so I’m looking forward to whatever new members we can get,” senior captain Vivian Xu said.
