After being rescheduled to avoid a heat wave, Back to School Night was held on Monday, Sept. 19 at Davis High, occurring later in the year than it normally would.
Instead of triple digit weather, parents experienced thunderstorms at the event. Crowds huddled under overhangs and in classrooms to avoid being soaked by the downpour.
Back to School Night is a time for parents to get to know their children’s teachers and for teachers to get to know parents.
“It’s a great time to connect with parents, show them what we offer for their students,” math teacher Dan Gonzalez said. Gonzalez is excited to meet his student’s parents and learn more about his students through their families.
“I’m very excited to be a part of this,” parent of DHS senior Vincent Fong said. It is his first time attending a Back to School Night at DHS, due to the past two being held online.
Pam Cosgrove, a mother of two students at DHS, tries to go to Back to School Night every year. She enjoys learning about the school and the teachers and listening to the programs given as part of the event. “I just really appreciate all that the teachers and students are doing,” Cosgrove said.
