The Davis High women’s tennis team is in high spirits as it moves towards the semi-finals, but the season’s approaching end is bittersweet for many.
“Every time I think about the season being almost over I get really sad, because I am truly going to miss everyone on the team and all the experiences I have had,” senior Charlotte Sloane said.
Sloane will be greatly missed by her teammates, including junior Sami Tully-Smith, who says Sloane, “always brings this hilarious energy, and laughter and chatter.”
For some, Sloane has been an instrumental member of the team since she joined during her freshman year.
“I remember when I first joined the team, she made me feel so welcome because she just laughed so easily and made everyone comfortable,” Tully-Smith said.
Sloane plans on continuing tennis as a lifelong sport, and is most sad to be leaving behind her teammates. “Everyone is so supportive and has been there for me in my best and worst moments,” Sloane said.
This sentiment is shared by Macey Foncanon, another senior on the tennis team. “I love the sport and will miss the supporting and loving community built around it,” she said. “I have made such good connections with all of my teammates and my coach and will be sad to be leaving them.”
