BlueDevilHUB.com Staff––
Part of the HUB’s mission is to create community and the HUB believes that the first step to doing so is building trust and relationships between the HUB and the student population.
For years the HUB has overrepresented certain groups such as seniors, students who identify as female, and white and Asian students. Meanwhile, while 24% of our school’s population is Latine, only 5% of those interviewed by the HUB last year were Latine. The HUB is dedicated to repairing this inequity.
However, more important than fixing a statistic is making meaningful and lasting connections with students of all backgrounds.
This starts with an honest conversation.
One of the ways we are rebuilding is our upcoming Roundtable Discussion where we seek to not only discuss community but also create one that is inclusive, accepting and celebratory of our vibrant and diverse student population here at Davis High.
This Roundtable discussion will be taking place during Lunch on Wednesday, March 1st in L-28.
This discussion will be moderated by Opinions editor and Diversity Coordinator, Xochitl Armien, alongside Reporter Tyrese Raney, and will be formatted around a few guiding questions on the topic of community.
During the discussion, we will be filming to produce a short 2-minute video of the highlights to share on the HUB Instagram account and Breakdown.
If you are interested in participating, please scan the QR code below and fill out the google form with your name and email address, and we will contact you with more details on the discussion.
You can support us in our mission towards inclusivity by joining the HUB and using your voice to make a difference in the greater Davis Community.
We look forward to seeing you there.
