Labor Day is a distinguished holiday that recognizes the contributions of the working class in America. With this holiday comes a day off of school for both students and teachers. Students and teachers are all doing some different things on this three day weekend.
“Labor Day weekend in general is a time to recharge my batteries,” Biology teacher Tim Peevyhouse said, “It’s nice to be away from some people working on projects at home or on the farm.”
Adjusting to the school schedule after the end of summer can be challenging as not everyone keeps the same sleep schedule during the long break.
“I’m looking forward to sleeping in on Monday and being able to relax this three day weekend.” sophomore Isaac Chen said, “I was not expecting to have this much work already in the first weeks of school and I’m exhausted.”
While some may enjoy sleeping, others prefer to be active throughout the day, and spend their time outside playing a sport.
“This weekend I’m going to play a bunch of golf,” junior Noah Roseen said, “The weather this weekend is finally really nice and cool. Perfect for golfing.”
For some students the school year has already started piling up work, and studying for tests has quickly become necessary.
“I’m gonna have to spend my labor day studying,” junior Thomas Lyon said, “I already have so much work to do it’s crazy.”
Being used to the summer vacation can be hard to come to school, but others are still in the vacationing mood. The three day weekend is also an opportunity to take some time off and go enjoy a nice vacation for a brief time of having no responsibilities.
“This weekend me and my wife are gonna go enjoy a nice time in the city,” Art History teacher Douglas Wright said. “By city I don’t mean Sacramento, I mean San Francisco.”
