October is prime time for pumpkin picking, bringing the opening of the pumpkin patch season everywhere. This is especially true in Yolo County.
One patch in particular, Impossible Acres, opened its gates on October 1st, ready for families and friends to celebrate the fall spirit.
When you drive up to this family-owned farm, you are greeted by a small red barn surrounded by fields. Located in Davis, Impossible Acres has a variety of gourds and pumpkins for families to choose from.
At the entrance, there are decorative hay bales, crates full of pumpkins, as well as gourds in all shapes and colors. Visitors can also stroll through the patch and choose their own “U-Pick” pumpkins.
However, many visitors can be found near the barn, where there are a variety of animals for visitors to hold, pet and admire.
Senior Sofia Patriquin recently visited Impossible Acres. “I rarely go to the pumpkin patch, but this year I decided to be out and about with my friends and do something fall-inspired,” Patriquin said.
“This year me and my friends decided we wanted to see the baby animals, especially the piggies, that was our biggest endeavor,” Patriquin said.
In addition to pigs, Impossible Acres also has kittens, ducks, chickens, ponies, bunnies and more. Here you’ll see people of all ages interacting with the animals.
Senior Skylar Clements-Husten is also a fan of the farm. “I don’t go to Impossible Acres every year, but I’ve gone for the past two years,” Clements-Husten said. “My favorite station was the rabbits because I used to have pet rabbits.”
Impossible Acres is open every day until Halloween this year from 9am to 6pm (impossibleacres.com).
