Davis High classes decorated their doors this week to show their school spirit.

DHS’s door decorating competition gives fourth-period classes the opportunity to decorate their door throughout homecoming week.

At the end of the week, the doors are judged and the winners of the competition are selected.

Each class that signed up for Door Dec this year was provided with some materials such as colored paper, paper guitars and music notes. Classes could bring in their own supplies as well.

However, the designing and decorating of the door was fully left up to each class, allowing for students and teachers to unleash their creativity.

DHS got a lot of unique doors, but one thing that tied all doors together was their relation to this year’s homecoming theme, “Hoco Wrapped.” The theme was inspired by Spotify Wrapped and called for door decor related to music.

Some classes did this by highlighting their favorite musical artists and songs, while other classes focused on the different class music genres with rock for sophomores, disco for juniors and country for seniors.

Spanish teacher Janice Candelario’s door depicted DHS’s mascot, the Blue Devil, listening to music with big letters above that spelled out “Hoco Wrapped.”

“It’s just something different to break up the semester,” Candelario said regarding why she participates in Door Dec.

Although it is Candelario’s door, it was her students that really made the design come to life. “It is better when the students organize everything,” Candelario said.

Sophomore Isla Urena participated in door dec in Carlos Diaz’s Spanish class. Her class decorated their door with vinyls, music notes and colorful streamers.

“I think Door Dec is fun, especially for spirit week,” Urena said.
