The Science Tutoring Club is new to DHS this year and provides a place for students to receive study help.
Charlotte Bisson is the president of the club. “I decided to start it over the summer because after Covid, the math tutoring club (until this year) stopped, and I wanted to provide science tutoring since there wasn’t any,” Bisson said.
Members of the club meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays, for studying, test prep, and assistance with understanding subjects.
“We have a schedule where tutors come in, and anyone who needs tutoring can come and get help,” Bisson said.
Tutors at the club are normally students who have taken AP/Honors science classes or they are currently enrolled and have a strong understanding of the subject.
The club provides help for all science subjects available at DHS. “(The club’s goal) is to provide tutoring for students and give them a place to come for help if their teachers aren’t available or they need help with studying or test prep,” Bisson said.
Junior Mallika Bhargava both helps with tutoring and overseeing tutoring. “Different tutors are assigned to come in on different days based on what works better for them and which topics we need covered,” Bhargava said. “During the meetings, if people have questions or need help with a science class, they can come in and a tutor will assist them.”
The club is still available to join, and anyone interested in tutoring or receiving help is encouraged to attend.
“You should definitely join! It looks good on college applications and can give you hours for volunteer clubs like CSF or NHS,” Bhargava said.
