Davis High women’s varsity golf team took down the Del Oro Golden Eagles on Sept. 13, with a score of 222-224. The match took place at Wildhorse Golf Course in North Davis.
The team’s coach, Dan Ariola, was very impressed with how the Devils pulled through in the match. The team had the “most solid gameplay I’ve ever seen,” Ariola said. “Del Oro is a really tough team, I’m proud of us for winning this match even if it was just by a hair.”
All the Devils played amazing. Senior Alessandra Trask shot an all-time low of 37 which is one over par through 9 holes. Her sister, sophomore Bella Trask, also scored well for the Blue Devils with a score of 48. Bella’s 2nd shot on hole 9 landed her just feet from the pin, allowing her to finish the match strong.
“I started off well on the first tee but as we continued through the course, I began to see myself playing worse, but I held through at the end and managed to finish with a good score,” Bella said.
The women’s golf team is now 3-0 on their home course. “I can see the girls getting a better understanding of how they all play, which makes me confident for our team this season,” Ariola said.
