Women’s basketball pulls through, narrowly beating Rocklin 50-46

The Davis High varsity women’s basketball team fought hard for a 50-46 win over the Rocklin Thunders on Feb. 11.
Davis started the game slow. but gained momentum in the second quarter through strong defense. The game remained tight, with both teams trading big plays. Freshman Lorelei Nachman hit key shots in the final minutes, helping to help secure the victory.
“It was a really good team win,” Nachman said. “We had a lot of nice passes.”
Junior Sonia Clayton, who played a significant role in the win with timely putbacks, helping Davis improve to a 16-11 record on the season. “Everyone contributed, not just with scoring but in all aspects of the game,” Clayton said.
Coach Heather Highshoe credited the team’s resilience and defensive discipline. “We knew this would be a tough game, but we stayed focused and played with heart,” she said. “Our communication and rotations improved as the game went on, and that was key for us.”
Davis will close out league play on senior night against Saint Francis on Feb. 14. “Our goal is to finish strong and make a playoff run,” Highshoe said.
